Its construction began in 1500 by the wish of A. Costabili, ambassador of the Este family to the Ludovico il Moro family. The palace is an important work by Biagio Rossetti, although it remained unfinished. The marble decoration of the projecting pilasters and the steps of the honour staircase, the work of Gabriele Frisoni, stand out. Of the original pictorial decoration, there is a testimony in frescoed rooms painted in the 16th century by Garofalo.
